How Can I immigrate to Alberta Canada?

Alberta : Alberta is the fourth largest Province in Canada. Alberta is in the western region of Canada’s three Prairie provinces. Alberta is also referred to as Canada's Energy Province because of its oil and gas industry. The oil and gas sector has created a lot of job opportunities benefiting the economy.

Alberta has a population of 4 million and growing. The biggest cities in Alberta are Edmonton and Calgary which have the most population. Alberta has high standards of living with fewer taxes.

Better job opportunities are making Alberta a preferred choice for immigration. Also, Alberta has better education, less crime rate, and better healthcare which make it a popular destination for immigrants.

Alberta Advantage Immigration Program:

Alberta has divided its immigration programs into two categories: The Workers Stream and The Entrepreneurs Stream.

Like other provinces, Alberta also has its Provincial Nominee Program called The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program AAIP, formerly known as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program. This program mainly invites those who have the skills to work in the required field and help the economy.

Also if you want to start your business in Alberta and have fulfilled the eligibility criteria, you can apply through the Entrepreneurs stream program. If you are selected/ Nominated through this program then you can apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for Permanent Residency in Canada. The final decision for Permanent residency is made by the Federal Government.

The main programs under both streams are:

Alberta Opportunity Stream: This program is mainly for those who are already working under an Albertan employer and have a full-time job offer fulfilling the required eligibility criteria of education, work, Experience and Language proficiency.
Alberta Express Entry Stream: This stream mainly selects Candidates from Express Entry System. Alberta considers those profiles from the express entry pool that can help in the economic growth of Alberta. Candidates who are selected through this provincial Nominee Program get a raise of 600 points in their CRS for Federal profile.
Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway: This program mainly supports Candidates with a tech background. If you have experience in one of the tech profiles listed in the occupation list you are eligible to apply under the Alberta Express Entry stream. You can also apply for a job letter from an employer from Alberta.
AAIP Farm Stream: Applicants who have experience in farming and have a new plan to have their farm business in Alberta helping the economy of Alberta can submit their proposals to the Government of Canada for approval. If approved, they can apply under AAIP Farm Stream.
Graduate Entrepreneur: This stream is mainly for those who are graduates and want to start a business in Alberta. This stream mainly uses a ranking system and candidates with high ranks are invited to submit their business proposals. If accepted, they will get a nomination which can be used to apply for Permanent Residency.
Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream: This stream mainly helps those candidates who have completed a foreign post-secondary credential and want to start a business in Alberta. Eligible candidates can submit their applications using the online portal and if accepted can apply for Permanent residency in Canada.

Eligibility Criteria for AAIP : To be eligible for Alberta Advantage Immigration Program the applicants must fulfil the required eligibility criteria.

Candidates must have an Express Entry Profile.
Candidates must have a minimum CRS score of 300.
Candidates must have a good score on the language proficiency test.
Candidates must provide proof of their education.
Candidates must provide proof of their work experience.
If you are applying under AAIP then you must qualify under any one stream of Express Entry Program i.e. FSW, FST or CEC.
Have enough funds for yourself and your family if you are enrolling them with you in your immigration application.

Documents required for Alberta Immigration: the required documents under AAIP are the same as the documents required for the Express entry program. Additional documents are required by the Entrepreneur category. Mainly the documents required for immigration purposes are

A valid account on the website of immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
A valid passport
Proof of educational credentials
Proof of work experience
Proof of funds for your stay
Medical certificate
Police clearance certificate
Documents supporting your relationship with your Spouse or common-law partner and your children if you include them in your application.
Proof of your language proficiency, i.e. IELTS, CELPIP or PTE.
A valid job offer. (It's not compulsory to have one, but if you have a valid job offer from an Albertan employer, then it will help you in increasing your CRS score).
