Are you planning to apply for Temporary Resident Visa Canada

Temporary Resident Visa is required for a temporary stay in a country whose you don't have Citizenship or permanent residency. Temporary residence visas have a limit to their stay. Mostly temporary visas have a stay period of around six months or less.

 

If you are not a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Residency holder and you want to visit Canada for the purpose of travelling or meeting with your family then you need a Temporary Residence Visa TRV.  In the case of connecting flights, you will also need a transit visa.

 

A Temporary Resident Visa is issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada IRCC Canada to those who are planning to have a short stay in Canada for the purpose of business, Family visit, Traveling or some official purpose.

 

You are only allowed to stay for a fixed period of time. When the status of your Temporary visa is over then you need to return to your home country. While travelling to Canada, the official at the Port of entry will write the date for your stay duration in Canada. You can legally stay in Canada for that period of time.

 

If no time duration is mentioned, then your maximum stay period is six months. You have to return before your six-month stay duration expires. You need to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa before arriving in Canada. You can not apply for the Visa at the time of arrival.

 

You need to follow the purpose of your travelling. You can not work or study on your Temporary Resident Visa. Also, you can not live permanently in Canada on a Temporary Resident Visa. 

 

Citizens of some countries do not require a Temporary Resident Visa to enter Canada, however, they do require an electronic travel Authorization eTA to enter Canada. 

 

There are mainly three types of Temporary Resident Visa:

 

  1. Transit Visa: This visa is mainly required by those who are travelling through Canada. The purpose of their stay is mainly the change in flights and their time of stay is usually 48 hours or less. They are not allowed to travel on a transit Visa. Also, only those who need a transit Visa whose country is not Visa Exempted. 
     

  2. Multiple Entry Visa: Multiple entry visas are those in which a visa holder can have multiple entries and exits according to their requirements without renewing their visa status every time. For example a 10-year visitor visa with multiple entries. You can come and visit multiple times as long as your visa has valid status. 
     

  3. Single Entry Visa: With this visa, you can only have one entry in Canada for your stay.

 

If you are a student or a worker or a visitor and want to stay in Canada, then you need to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa under the desired category. If you meet all the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection act, then you will be issued a visa for your temporary stay in Canada.

 

Eligibility Criteria, Documents required for Temporary Resident Visa: To apply for a Temporary Resident Visa, applicants must fulfil the following requirements:

 

  1. Applicants must be 18 years or older.

  2. Applicants must have a valid Passport.

  3. Applicants must have a valid purpose to visit Canada.

  4. Applicants must not be engaged in any criminal activities.

  5. Applicants must provide proof of medical fitness.

  6. Applicants must provide proof of funds for their stay in Canada.

  7. Applicants must provide all the required documents at the time of the application.

  8. Applicants should fill and submit all the required forms in detail. Incomplete forms are not processed.

  9. Applicants must pay the application fees.

  10. Applicants must provide their biometrics as required.

 

Additional documents are required as per the type of temporary resident visa you are applying for. To apply for a TRV, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada mainly requires Form IMM 5257, For Temporary Resident and Form IMM 5707, for Family information. Additional forms are required as per the type of visa.

 

To apply for a TRV, you can apply online or manually. You can apply online through Immigrations, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, IRCC. you need to create an account to apply online. Fill out the application form, and upload all the required documents. 

 

You need to fill out the application form completely. Incomplete forms are not processed. After applying you will be required to give some extra documents and your biometrics to the government officials.

 

The processing time for the application is generally a few weeks. If your application is accepted then you will be required to send your passport for the stamping. You will receive your visa stamped on your passport.
