How Can I Apply for PR for Canada from India

PR for Canada: It is the dream of many Indians to live permanently in Canada. The main reason for permanent settlement in Canada is a better life, job opportunities, a Better society, better education and world-class Healthcare.

Every year many Indians settle in Canada on a permanent basis through the various programmes run by the Canadian government, which provide permanent residency to eligible Indians Under different categories once they Prove the eligibility criteria.

 

Indians can apply for permanent residency directly from India under various categories which are Express entry,  family class visa,  business visa,  investor visa and startup visa. The average processing time for a Canadian visa application is between 6 to 12 months which may vary depending on certain conditions.

 Express entry program: Express Entry was launched in 2015 by the IRCC. This program is point based and has mainly three streams through which you can apply. These are 

 

  1. Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP)
  2. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  3. Canadian Experience Class. (CEC) 

 

The Federal Skilled Workers Program is a pathway for permanent residency for skilled foreign nationals. These skilled workers are invited for permanent residency if they meet the desired eligibility criteria. 

 

Eligibility Criteria: as it's a point-based system, the applicant must have a minimum of 67 points to enter the pool out of 100 points. These points depend upon the following:

 

  1. The applicant’s age must be between 18-35. Maximum age points will be given to applicants between 30 to 35, and the points decrease with an increase in age. 

 

  1. The applicant must have a minimum qualification of Canadian higher secondary. The high qualification, the high points you get for education. 

 

  1. It is important to have a minimum of one year of experience in a full-time job. The increased experience will increase the points in your EE profile. 

 

  1. Language proficiency is a must in an EE profile. A minimum of CLB 6 or more is required. Language proficiency test results can be in either English or French language. 

 

  1. Having a spouse or common-law partner with a strong connection to Canada with a minimum CLB 4 will help you increase your points. 

 

  1. The applicants must have an employment letter from a qualified Canadian employer. 

 

To support the following eligibility criteria, supportive documents are also required. These documents include

 

  1. Educational Credential Assessment certificate from WES, ICAS or IQAS etc. 

 

  1. Language proficiency test certificate, which can be IELTS, CELPIP or any other test recognised by IRCC.

 

      Police Clearance certificates

  1. Medical fitness certificate.
  2. Documents as proof of relationship for family members, which may include marriage certificate and birth certificate.
  3. Documents to show enough funds for you and your family. 

 

Provincial Nominee Program: Each Canadian province has its Nominee program. Most of These nominee programs are in reference to the federal Express entry system and add additional points to the candidate scores. 

 

Your profile will be accepted by the province in which you have applied for the nomination. If selected, you will get a nomination letter, and you can use this in your Express Entry profile to make your profile strong.  Each provincial nominee program's main requirement is to live in the particular province for a certain period of time after receiving permanent residency under the provincial nominee program.  

 

There are many streams under each province through which you can apply for permanent residency. Quebec is the only province which has a separate provincial nominee program.

 

Business Immigration Program: if you have a strong sense of business and are interested in doing your business in Canada, you can apply through the Business Immigration Program. Under the Business Immigration category, there are many programs which include the investor category, business category and start-up visa category.  You can apply under any of these categories for permanent residency by meeting the eligibility criteria. 

 

Self-Employed Program: This category involves those foreign nationals who have the relevant experience and the ability to self-employ themselves in Canada. The applicants under this category should meet the desired requirements which include relevant experience in the field and cultural activities certifications or certifications for athletics at the world level.

 

Family Sponsorship Program: This program is mainly for the family members of permanent residents or citizens of Canada. You can invite your family members to Canada on a permanent basis after meeting the eligibility of age, work and financial requirements. 

 

The family members you are inviting should also meet certain requirements of medical fitness and police clearance. 

 

You should be 18 years or above and have enough funds to support your dependent family members for a certain period of time. Also, relationship proof with your family members is required.
