In order to speed up the entry of qualified professionals who can aid in the nation's recovery from previous weather-related disasters, the New Zealand government has developed the Recovery Visa.

In response to the flooding and effects of Cyclone Gabrielle in New Zealand, the Recovery Visa was announced.

After the earthquakes in Christchurch and Kaikoura, similar visa policies were put into place.

The Recovery Visa ensures abroad professionals needed to support the recovery work can come here promptly, said Michael Wood, minister of immigration.
