Amid confusion, new immigration rules on work visas were welcomed by the New Zealand Business

A new immigration policy was welcomed by businesses in New Zealand unveiled by the New Zealand’s ACT party.

The new immigration policy is an overly complex set of current rules and regulations.

James McDowall, ACT's immigration spokesperson said that the labour party made the businesses suffer with lockdowns, increased costs and bureaucracy.

He said that it is now time to make the businesses do better in an easy manner. We should increase the business productivity and give the employees a break who put their all in the work.

Businesses in New Zealand have welcomed the decision despite the businesses struggling to find the skilled workers. They said they welcome the proposed changes in work visas as they will improve the access of the work visas but they are still looking at the changes.

ACT is planning to subject all major immigration decisions to a Regulatory Impact Analysis. It will outweigh the costs benefitting the immigration.

ACT is also planning to replace the temporary work visa with demand based pricing. It will then depend upon the employers to decide whether or not they want to hire skilled migrant workers at the high price.

David Seymour, ACT leader said that these changes will make it easy for the employers to seek the skilled migrant workers.

He said that current immigration rules are complex and they are confusing for employers. These rules were made without a foresight so it is difficult for the employers to get proper skilled workers they need.

These plans will make New Zealand competitive with the rest of the world. As immigration is the make or break policy for a country it is better to plan the policies accordingly.

At a time when businesses are struggling after the pandemic to hire workers, Business NZ has welcomed the policy and stated that the cost benefit analysis will help them in making the use of demand based pricing.
