Strong hiring in Canada continues to increase the employment payroll of Canada

Since November 2022, 10 out of 15 sectors in Canada have increased their payroll employment.

The employee number receiving payments or benefits from their employers has been increasing in Canada in the last few months, which shows that the hiring climate in Canada is returning to the pre-pandemic levels and is becoming strong.

As a result of this, many industries are seeing a decrease in job vacancies. Many businesses can find and hire workers and fill vacant job openings since the pandemic. As a result of this, the labour shortage has decreased.

Overall there is an increase of 7,100 jobs in the payroll employment. In November 2022, job vacancies were down by 20,700 positions, leading to a collective of 850,300 vacancies across Canada.

These numbers show a decrease of 151,900 job openings since May 2022, when the vacancies were at a record high of a million. The decrease in job vacancies shows that economic production of goods and services is returning to pre-pandemic levels.

The increased payroll indicates that companies are hiring and need more workers means more people are working to contribute to the economy. Knowing the sectors with a surge in hiring benefits newcomers or potential immigrants to Canada.

Some of the sections which have the most significant numbers in payroll employment till now are Public administration (+4,800 positions); Construction (+4,300 positions); Professional scientific and technical services (+5,600 positions); and Finance and insurance (+4,700 positions).

Still, there is a huge workforce gap in the Canadian labour market. Various sectors are facing a labour shortage and have a large number of vacancies. Some of these sectors are healthcare and social assistance, construction and Professional, scientific and technical sectors.

Despite the significant increase in the number of payroll employees in construction and Professional, scientific and technical sectors, there are still many positions in these sectors which require workers.

To fill the gaps Canadian Immigration has created groups in the EE pool with similar criteria and issued ITAs following the ascension of Bill C-19 in 2022. This will help in addressing Canada’s economic and social needs directly.
