Canadian Immigration backlog continues to decrease gradually: Reports
Canadian immigration inventory has almost 2.1 million applicants across all lines of business. The new inventory shows a reduction of 110,000 from December data.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has reported that the applicant inventory has decreased. Earlier the inventory was approx 2.2 million, which decreased to 2.1 million in December.
The current data is as of January 2-3, 2023. The inventory of immigration as of July 2021 was 1,447,474 persons who significantly decreased to 2,152,220 persons as of January 2, 2023.
Also, the inventory for citizenship applications as of January 3, 2023, stands at 301,388 applicants compared to 314,630 applicants on November 30.
Similarly, the permanent residence inventory as of January 2, 2023, stands at 521,552 people compared to 512,342 as of December 2.
The temporary residence inventory as of January 3, 2023, is 1,329,280 people, which is less than the 1,416,125 persons as of December 3, 2022.
The numbers show the reduction in the inventory number in two major categories out of three. The most significant reduction in inventory is in the temporary residence. The number of applications reduced is significant.
Other than these, IRCC also publishes data about the applicant numbers in Express Entry programs. A total of 48,409 applicants are waiting in the queue as of January 2, 2023. The new data shows an increase in number by 5,000 since December 2, 2023.
The increase in the Express Entry program applicants is 3,733 for Canadian Experience Class in the past month and 1,869 in the Federal Skilled Worker Program.
IRCC holds rounds of invitations for Express Entry candidates for all programs in July this year. Earlier the draws were only limited to the PNP candidate as IRCC was struggling to meet the six-month service standards for applications.
