Canada tourist visa holders can now obtain a 2-year work visa

Visiting Canada!!!!!  If you really want to stay here for a little longer, You might land a job.

The Canadian government has continued a temporary measure designed to make it easier for foreign nationals who are already visitors to Canada to apply for work permits. The insurance plan has now been extended for an additional two years; it was originally scheduled to expire at the end of February 2023.

Visitors who have held a work permit within the last 12 months are eligible to apply for temporary work authorisation so they can begin working for their new employer more quickly.

Employers in Canada have the option of hiring visitors if the temporary policy is maintained, as many are struggling with severe labour shortages during this moment of economic growth, according to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

This process is significantly different from the conventional one, in which candidates would normally need to apply for their initial work permit before arriving in Canada, and if granted while in Canada on visitor status, they would need to depart the country in order to receive their work visa.

Who Can Apply:

Applicants must meet all of the standard requirements for admissibility, including having a valid visitor status in Canada on the day they apply, having a job offer that is supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or an LMIA-exempt offer of employment, applying for an employer-specific work permit by February 28, 2025, and meeting all other standard requirements.

Just in the middle of the pandemic's first year, when immigration to Canada was on the decline, this temporary governmental policy went into force for the first time on August 24, 2020.

The temporary policy's extension aims to solve the labour shortages that many Canadian firms are experiencing at this time of strong economic growth. The number of vacancies fell from nearly one million earlier in the year to 848,000 in December 2022, as reported by Statistics Canada.

Despite this, since September, the nation has added 326,000 jobs, bringing the total number of employed Canadians to more than 20 million for the first time. Canada had a 5% unemployment rate as of January.
