Permanent Residence Permit:

To stay for a long period in Germany permanent resident permit is required. It is also known as Settlement Permit or in German, Niederlassungserlaubnis. They have to prove that they had worked at least for 5 years. You will need to know more advanced German. Children and spouses are allowed to join if you are having a permanent resident permit.  

Residence Permit Requirements:

He should have a valid passport from another country. He should not have a criminal record and be proficient in German in at least a B1 level, have German health insurance. Passing a health check which proves you are healthy enough to work and study.

He should be financially stable and support himself and your family. You will need a letter from your employer with the job offer and description, If you plan on working in Germany. You will need proof that you have been admitted into a university, if you plan on studying in Germany.
