Is Express Entry Program Lottery Based?
No Express Entry program is not a Lottery Based program. It is more merit-based as it uses a point system to select candidates through the draws. The main purpose of the Express Entry program is to reduce the complications in Canadian Immigration.

Due to this reason, the Government turned this program into a lottery system recently. This is open only for three weeks. So you are required to act fast to get an entry into the program.

The recent opening for the Parent Grandparent program in 2022 was on 11 October 2022. IRCC will send the ITAs to 23,100 potential sponsors this time.
Entering in Lottery:
To sponsor your Parents and Grandparents through the lottery, the first step is to submit the interest to the Sponsor Form.
For this, you are required to fill out the Sponsor interest form. This can be updated later in case of wrong information is added to the form.
All the information in the sponsor form you provide should be similar to your application information.
After the submission of the interest form, you need to check your mail regularly as the invitation letter will be sent to your mail. Also, check the spam folders for the mail, just in case.
No duplicated applications or forms are allowed.
If you Got an Invitation:
In case you got the invitation, then you have 60 days to apply. You should submit your application within 60 days of receiving the ITA. in case an application is submitted after 60 days; the application will be returned back to you. You can not receive another ITA either.
In case you didn’t get the ITA, you can apply for a super visa. That is also a good program for parents and grandparents.
