A local NGO working for the betterment of school-going kids, especially focusing on reducing the stress level in the new generation has sent out an opinion survey to see what people think about the presence of multimedia gadgets in house.

Option A: Kids should have no access to gadgets like smartphones or iPad etc.

Option B: Kids should be encouraged to read books in their free time.

Option A: Kids should have no access to gadgets like smartphones or iPad etc.

As a concerned citizen and supporter of the efforts of the local NGO to reduce stress levels among school-aged children, I believe that children should have limited or no access to multimedia devices such as smartphones and iPads.

The presence of multimedia devices in the home can negatively impact the physical and mental health of children. Excessive screen time has been linked to poor sleep quality, obesity, poor academic performance, and behavioural issues, according to studies. In addition, the constant stimulation and distraction of these devices can increase stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues.

Instead, children should be encouraged to participate in physical activities, imaginative play, and outdoor exploration, which can help reduce stress and promote physical and mental health. Parents and caregivers can play a crucial role in limiting screen time and promoting alternative forms of entertainment and engagement.

It is also important to consider the potential impact of the digital divide on the education and opportunities available to children. Not all families have access to digital technology, and restricting children's use of multimedia devices could exacerbate existing disparities.

Option B: Kids should be encouraged to read books in their free time.

As a concerned citizen and supporter of the local NGO's efforts to reduce stress in the next generation of schoolchildren, I think kids should read books in their free time.

Reading benefits children's mental health and cognitive development. Reading reduces stress, improves empathy, communication, and academic performance.

Reading gives kids a creative and imaginative outlet that can reduce stress and improve mental health. Parents and caregivers can promote creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication by encouraging children to read.
