The action of installing new HD night vision cameras that can cover the area around the hostel vs biometric locks on the door is a hotly debated topic among the hostel residents. In my opinion, installing biometric locks on the doors is a more viable option due to the following reasons.

The fingerprint-based locks can help us restrict people from entering the premises. As outsiders did most of the crimes, it is mandatory to restrict them. Furthermore, all individuals who got their accommodation within the campus has a background check done. Thus, if only registered people will stay dormant, chances of unlawful activities will be reduced.

For the sake of playing the mediator role, let's look at another choice. The night vision cameras will neither add security within the institution nor in the proximity area until an additional person is appointed to monitor them.

Based on the above discussion, I still stand by my stance that is night vision cameras are not an effective way to minimise illegal acts within the campus.
